Fall 2021 Checklist

Juniors

Research different majors you might be interested in. Make a list of all the things you're passionate about, and then start searching! There are so many different options, so have some fun with it!
Try to volunteer and/or job shadow for as many places as you can. The more experience you can gain - the better!
Consider signing up for a fall SAT or ACT. Most students have the pre-requisite skills for the SAT and ACT after completing Math I, II and III as well as two highschool English courses.

Seniors

If you haven't already created a Common App account, this is your first step for September!
Some colleges will have deadlines as early as October 15th for priority, early decision, and early action. Prioritize these applications - you only have one month remaining!
Finalize your college essays. Many schools will require that you submit at least one essay with your application.
Request personal recommendations from teachers, school counselors, or employers. Follow the process required by your high school or provide a stamped, addressed envelope, the appropriate college forms, and an outline of your academic record and extracurricular activities to each person writing a recommendation for you.
Take every opportunity to get to know colleges: meet with college representatives who visit your high schools during the fall, attend local college fairs, and tour campuses (if possible).
